1. Following the visit to North Korea by Mr. Lim Dong-won, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Korea, South and North Koreas agreed that they would advance inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation. The Government of Japan welcomes this positive move between South and North Koreas. Japan also hopes that this meeting will lead to the promotion of inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation between the South and North, with a view to securing peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.

2. Japan intends to make steady efforts toward the Normalization Talks between Japan and North Korea, and to solve, through such efforts, various issues including such humanitarian issues as abduction cases as well as security issues.
