[Full text]

1. The Government of Japan has decided to exempt visas for nationals of the Republic of Korea, who wish to enter Japan as temporary visitor for a period of 90 days or less, from March 1 (Wed), on the premise that the Government of the ROK will take the same measures for Japanese nationals.

2. The decision was made after a comprehensive review of the results of the visa exemption measures, which was taken to coincide with the holding of the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi last year, and after confirming that no data indicated an increase of crimes by ROK nationals in Japan.

3. It is expected that with this measure human exchanges will continue to increase between Japan and the ROK and the relationship between the two countries will become even closer.
