Concerning Iranian nuclear issues, on 21 October, the Iranian Government announced its decisions to suspend its uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities, to sign the Additional Protocol, and to cooperate fully with the IAEA.

We take this announcement as a signal of a positive attitude by the Iranian Government with regards to the nuclear issues, and will continue to watch closely whether Iran will implement its decisions. It is important for the Iranian Government to sincerely implement all the necessary measures that the IAEA Board of Governors Resolution called for in September, and we hope Iran to do so.

Various efforts, including the meeting between our Foreign Minister Ms. Kawaguchi and Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Kharazi, have been made by the international society concerning Iranian nuclear issues, and in this context, we respect British, French and German Foreign Ministers for their efforts to visit Tehran and reach the agreement with the Iranian Government.
