[Title] Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the Entry of Russian Humanitarian Convoy into Eastern Ukraine
1. Japan expresses its deep concern about the entry of Russian convoy into Eastern Ukraine without the consent of the Ukrainian Government, under the name of humanitarian aid, on the 22nd August. This crossing the border is a violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and can lead to further deterioration of the situation of eastern part of Ukraine.
2. Japan calls upon Russia to immediately halt such unilateral action and provide humanitarian aid subject to the agreement with the Ukrainian Government and ICRC with keeping transparency when it executes humanitarian mission. Japan also strongly calls upon Russia to halt inflow of weapons and fighters from Russia into the Ukrainian territories, tighten the border-control measures and take constructive actions with exerting influence on the armed separatists towards realization of cease-fire and peaceful solution of the situation of Ukraine.
