[Title] PROTOCOL AMENDING THE AGREEMENT FOR COOPERATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CONCERNING CIVIL USES OF ATOMIC ENERGY
PROTOCOL AMENDING THE AGREEMENT FOR COOPERATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CONCERNING CIVIL USES OF ATOMIC ENERGY
The Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America;
Desiring to amend the Agreement for Cooperation between the Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America Concerning Civil Uses of Atomic Energy signed at Washington on June 16, 1958, as amended by the Protocol signed at Washington on October 9, 1958, hereinafter referred to as the "Agreement for Cooperation"; Have agreed as follows:
ARTICLE I
Article V, paragraph A, of the Agreement for Cooperation is amended to read:
"A.Research Materials
"Materials of interest in connection with defined research projects related to the peaceful uses of atomic energy as provided by Article III and under the limitations set forth in Article II, including source materials, special nuclear materials, by-product material, other radioisotopes, and stable isotopes, will be exchanged for research purposes, other than for fueling reactors and reactor experiment, in such quantities and under such terms and conditions as may be agreed when such materials are not available commercially."
ARTICLE II
This Protocol shall enter into force on the day on which each Government shall have received from the other Government written notification that it has complied with all statutory and constitutional requirements for the entry into force of this Protocol and shall remain in force for the period of the Agreement for Cooperation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, duly authorized, have signed this Protocol.
