(On the agreement reached between the ruling and opposition parties regarding the Act on Special Measures for Pandemic Influenza and New Infectious Diseases Preparedness and Response and other matters)

I appreciate the efforts of all those in the ruling and oppositions parties involved with reaching agreement on this Act. The Government will respect the agreement as we work in accordance with it. Through this amendment, the shortening of business hours for dining and drinking establishments and other measures will yield even greater effects than before. Going forward, we will make every effort to reduce these infections.

(On the effectiveness of new measures)

Under the agreement reached between the ruling and opposition parties, we will be newly able to levy civil fines. Given that, the Government will work hard to successfully raise the effectiveness of our measures.

(On politicians making greater efforts on their side)

Things of that nature have been mentioned in the Diet, too. First and foremost, the entire government will work to steadily increase the effectiveness of our measures by gaining the support of citizens.

(On the third supplementary budget bill)

Deliberations will resume shortly.
