(On the visit to the airport quarantine station, etc.)

With concerns over the impact of the Delta strain, I visited the quarantine station at Haneda Airport today, which is on the frontlines of border control, and then observed preventive measures against infection taken by airlines. Many Olympic and Paralympic athletes and related staff will soon be entering Japan. Athletes will be tested twice before their entry and every day after entering Japan. Under such circumstances, we will also apply strict rules to the related staff to limit the outing destinations, thereby preventing physical contact with the public.

And during today's visit, I was briefed on passenger flow and other matters. It is completely separated from that for the general public. In any event, I instructed relevant officials to take more thorough countermeasures toward the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

I also observed the pilots and flight attendants for international flights getting vaccinated and tried the system using the latest device that would allow passengers to board and disembark from the aircraft without contact. I truly realized that they have made tremendous efforts. In any case, I will take strong leadership to fully protect the lives, livelihoods, and health of the people while making use of today's visit.
