(The Prime Minister's remarks following an inspection of border control measures at Narita Airport for the Olympic and Paralympic delegations)

The number of people entering the country for the Olympic and Paralympic Games will reach its peak from tomorrow. I believe that it is the Government's role to implement thorough border control measures, thereby protecting people's lives. For this reason, I have visited Narita Airport, which is on the frontline.

At the inspection, I was briefed about and observed how the lanes for the Olympic and Paralympic delegations were clearly separated from those for the general public, and the number of the staff was increased last week to put the system in order to handle the situation firmly. I felt that things are in place such as visitors being tested thoroughly and isolated immediately from the general public if tested positive.

In any case, the Olympic Games are only one week away. We will further implement thorough border control measures, thereby protecting the lives and health of the people. This is why I directly instructed the staff regarding these matters.
