(Regarding border control measures related to the Omicron strain of COVID-19)

With regard to the Omicron strain of COVID-19 you inquired about, we are working to address the situation with a profound sense of urgency and as of 12:00AM yesterday, November 28, we have already suspended new entries into Japan for foreign nationals regarding nine countries, including South Africa.

That said, in light of the global spread of this strain, we continue to examine a further strengthening of our border control measures, and we will release information regarding any revisions at an appropriate time.
