[Full text]

A short while ago, I held a summit telephone talk with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Prime Minister Johnson and I affirmed our consistent support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and agreed that we would not accept any unilateral change in the status quo by force. We also confirmed that we would continue diplomatic efforts for de-escalation and continually work closely together. At the same time, with regard to Japan-UK relations, we concurred in our commitment to continually strengthen cooperation in promoting a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific," as well as in the fields of security, diplomacy, economy, and trade. We will continue to monitor the situation around Ukraine with grave concern and respond appropriately to the matter, in close coordination with the G7 and the international community. Thank you.
