Good morning.

Receiving the announcement from the Republic of Korea that North Korea had launched a ballistic missile, I changed my outing schedule and have just been briefed on the situation.

We are taking all possible measures in close coordination among Japan, the United States and the Republic of Korea, including through real-time sharing of missile warning data. The Japanese Government is fully aware of this latest launch. Based on what we have just confirmed, no missile has flown into Japan’s territorial waters or Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Furthermore, no reports of damage have been confirmed by relevant agencies.

Nevertheless, to ensure the safety of the people, the Takaichi Cabinet has just instructed the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to continue to collect and analyze the necessary information. That’s all from me.
