1. Japan welcomes the fact that on August 8 (local time), in the presence of US President Trump, the joint declaration was signed in Washington, D.C., by President Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Pashinyan of the Republic of Armenia, aimed at achieving peace.

2. Japan also highly commends US’s mediation efforts, including those led by President Trump.

3. Japan hopes that the signing of this document will lead to the achievement of peace and the final resolution of the conflict between the two countries, and that it will bring lasting peace and prosperity to the Caucasus region.
