I am deeply grieved and saddened at the news of the high toll of human lives and heavy damage resulting from the train derailment that took place near Pukhrayan in the early morning on Sunday, November 20.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Japan, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families of the tragedy, and wish for rapid recovery of the injured.

I am sure that the people of India will get over this tragedy under your strong leadership, and Japan is ready to extend any assistance you may require in this difficult time.
