I am glad that Gender Equality Advisory Council (GEAC) 2023 submitted the final report, and I would like to express my gratitude to Madam Chair of the GEAC, Dr. SHIRAHASE Sawako, and other members of the GEAC.

In May at the G7 Hiroshima Summit, the Leaders committed to redoubling our efforts to overcome longstanding structural barriers and to addressing harmful gender norms, stereotypes, roles, and practices through such means as education. We are also expressed our strong concern about the rollback of women’s and girls’ rights in particular in time of crisis and committed to championing, advancing and defending gender equality and the rights of women and girls in all their diversity, at home and abroad.

Japan will continue to lead global efforts to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in all their diversity and will work for further promoting gender mainstreaming.
