As Prime Minister of Japan, I am very happy to be able to address you today.

At the outset, let me express my sincere respect for the people of Ukraine, who are struggling day to day under the leadership of President Zelenskyy in order to defend their homeland and freedom in the face of continued aggression by Russia.

Japan supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea.

In June of this year, I attended the "Summit on Peace in Ukraine" held in Switzerland, where I stressed the importance of achieving a "just and lasting peace" in Ukraine in order to lead the entire international community toward a world of cooperation rather than of division. It is important that the outcomes of this conference be carried forward to the second summit and that peace be restored to the beautiful land of Ukraine as soon as possible.

We will move forward hand in hand with the people of Ukraine.
