I am deeply shocked to learn of a tragic loss of lives caused by the floods in Texas, United States of America. On behalf of the Government and the people of Japan, I extend my most heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and to the people of the United States during this difficult time and offer my sincere hopes for the safe return of those still missing.
